468ci bracket master

This alum block engine was done for a customer who wanted a reliable bracket engine that would go rounds all year with minimal maintenance. A budget was set, and weight vs cost was the primary trade off. To achieve 750hp or more within the required cubic inch limit, other heads would need expensive cnc porting and possibly offset shaft rocker system. This drove the cost up, prohibiting the alum block option.

So unported CV-1 heads got the nod, allowing for future growth up to 440cfm @.800" lift with cnc porting program if desired. The alum block was filled with the following components:

4.31" bore alum block

4" stroke forged crank

13.75cr $2995 CV-1 heads

CVI-1d dominator intake

270/282 @ .050" .730lift cam

The results were 777hp at 7300rpm, with a broad flat torque curve of over 600ft/lbs torque from 5200 to 6400rpm, with good power on up to 7300rpm with 'out of the box' CV-1 heads! This combo is going in a '69 GTO race car - look for performance updates on the 'CV-1 Cars' web page.

455 pump gas dyno results

This motor was built and tested by Tony Bischoff at the prestigous BES facility last month. The cam specs are 260/268 @ .050"  .731" lift. Compression is a friendly 11:1 for 91 pump gas usage. This bullet is going in a '66 pro street GTO. Although its main duty will be street cruising, the graph below shows this stock block beast is more than capable of performing at the strip!

The Race Shop Pontiac

Roland Racing teamed up with The Race Shop to develop a top end package that will extract the most useable power from a stock block with a 7500rpm limit in a drag car application. The block is a 1968 400. It's filled halfway up the water pump holes, with 4 bolt splayed caps and a lifter bore brace added. Call for package pricing and delivery.

This engine has the Race Shop's model #420 CNC program on the CV-1 heads, with the CVI-2 intake port matched and polished. A 2" plenum spacer was added that is available through Roland Racing. The fuel was C16.

Specs and results from the Race Shop's 3000hp DTS SAE dyno:

If you have more questions or would like a complete printout of the results, call Charlie or I. This engine was plumbed for nitrous per customer request, but it was not used during the testing. It will be installed in a 2850lb tube chassis car for track testing very soon!

PHR's CV-1 street/strip bruiser

After numerous scheduling setbacks, the 400 block based CV-494 Pontiac was ready for testing at the well known Westech Dyno facility. The CV-1 heads are unported, the CVI-1 manifold port matched only.

The first tests started out with 1.75" headers to set the A/F mix, as this was the only set with an O2 sensor available. Subsequent tests were run with 2.25" primary headers which yielded 40hp gain! Suffice it to say the CV-1's prefer big tubes for max power. BMEP and BSFC #'s show that this head is a deep breather, yet docile enough to drive on the street with the conservative CR.
